Note from the Editors
Since the publication of the first Issue, there have been several exciting TOJ developments we would like to share with the TOJ readers.
In the quest of formalizing its place in the scientific publication arena, TOJ has been granted an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) by the US Library of Congress for both in-print and online versions of TOJ. The ISSN serves as a journal’s unique identification code worldwide. Furthermore, all TOJ papers (to include those published in the first issue) will be provided a CrossRef linking service that will permit individuals to easily find, navigate, cite, and assess their electronic content. Each TOJ paper will have designated a specific Digital Object Identifier (DOI) constituting a weblink for an efficient and scalable access of the paper on the Internet. The DOI referencing reflects the current standards in scientific publishing.
The TOJ Editorial Board has broadly been assembled. It consists of prominent members of the musculoskeletal field in the Texas region. The Editorial Board will continue to expand its membership to comprehensively represent the diverse regional and subspecialty orthopaedic clinical and scientific expertise of its members in our orthopaedic community.
A decision was made to publish TOJ biannually as the Spring and Fall issues. TOJ will continue to publish original research papers, reviews, case reports, commentaries, and letters to editors. To expedite the dissemination of the TOJ content, the electronic version of the TOJ manuscripts will appear online promptly after the manuscript is accepted, and its final formatted version approved by the authors.
Finally, the TOJ has proudly received the endorsement of the Texas Orthopedic Association (TOA), the premier musculoskeletal advocacy group in the State of Texas. The mutual goals that will ensure TOA-TOJ close collaboration going forward have been delineated in this issue’s commentary by the current TOA President.
It has been an honor to serve as Editors-in Chief to TOJ. We are committed to excellence in publishing and will continue our efforts to ensure that TOJ is a premier clinical and scientific musculoskeletal journal worthwhile for its readers. We are excited go launch this Fall Issue of TOJ and hope that the readers enjoy this publication of TOJ as much as we do.
